How to Reduce Risks?

According to the 4 business activities, all the risks will differ. Below, I have stated on how to reduce risks while using the internet for business purposes:

      1. Creating & updating a password

This is one of the ways to reduce risks to secure using internet. If you do not have implied a password on anything that uses internet then please do!!! It is way more safer for so many causes. Frequently changed passwords are even more of a benefit part of using the internet safely. Especially when people create accounts for different websites or application that use the internet, it is best to choose or make a strong password that is difficult to guess or break. So that when hackers try to hack your accounts, files or gadgets, they can be unsuccessful.

Firstly, I am showing an example and steps on how to set passwords on your mobile phone:

Step 1:
Go to settings

Click on the fingerprint and security👆👆👆

Step 3:
Then tap on the phone password word

Step 4:
You will see phone password again below after the step 3 therefore click on it again in order to turn on the mode of allowing your mobile phone of using password.

Step 5:
Now, you will see some number digits which you get to pick your own number code for about 4-6 digits only. In order to reconfirm on what you have chosen the password as, there is a re-enter system which asks you to re-enter the number digits you did a while ago within this step 5.

Step 6:
And your done! So far so good password is made. Now, as for updating your password, you can click on reset and this follows up with the same steps as well.

      2. Updating software

Companies using computers should be able to enhance an anti-virus software therefore providing the computers a sort of protection. As long as an anti-virus software is there to protect the computers, it is safer because if any virus do attacks on the computers, the important information are not to be destroyed or disappear. Instead, the software helps fight the virus and not disturb the information in the computers.

      3. Links and Attachments

Links and attachments are very popularly sent through companies especially when doing business research or promoting. That's why it is important to know that you can not just click on any file that is sent to them or that you search for. This helps reduce the risks of scams affecting on computers, thus, increases security.

      4. Social Media Security

Social media is a method of promoting a company which means it is essential to keep most information private as well when the particular company has not added or followed a particular site. Not just for companies but this type of precaution should also be made by any individual. Especially, in keeping their profiles privates so that there is no identity theft happening.

Business Activities🔎

The company that I preferred to answer this question is the Uber. Previously I had written about the uses of the internet for two companies I had selected. In this I will be continuing to write the 4 business activities the Uber company uses with the internet.

First of all, what are the 4 business activities?

The four main business activities that companies/businesses do using the internet or technology are:

1. Business Research
2. Procurement
3. Promotion
4. Communication

Below, I have stated of how the Uber company uses internet with these different types of business activities.

1. Business Research

It is essential for every company to do research, in this case, Uber also makes full use of internet for doing business research. Here are some ways the business research is done by Uber:

• Checking customer interest- this is one of the biggest aim of every company, to try to know their target customer and also to know what ways are mostly attracting them towards the company.
• Competitor Analysis- in order to know the strength and weaknesses, it becomes crucial for the business as they need to stay updated of what and who the competitors are. As a result, Uber can get to improvise or upgrade their market strategies.
• Trends- people follow trends all around the world, whereas in other say. for businesses become important to keep bringing up renovations made in their company.
• Weather forecast- to know what type of business campaigns can be carried out according to planning, for example, fun fair can mostly be held during a sunny day and to confirm a day for this event, the company can use the internet to search weather forecast and know which day has a suitable weather.

Therefore, in this most overlooked task in modern business, Uber, business research helps in boosting the sales, bringing in more ideas and develops the business even more. 

2. Procurement

The customers don't have to direct call the company when in need of the taxi but just need to download the application require to keep in touch with Uber drivers for in time of need transport. Therefore, the mobile application is one of the convenient and efficient technique used for Uber to satisfy their customers.

3. Promotion

As for promotion, Uber mostly use internet to advertise their company all around the world. People get updated through all the social medias', direct emails, Ad sense and many more! It is easier to reach people for Uber even more since they have their own website in which they respond quickly.

4. Communication

In Uber's case, communication is also mostly utilized through internet. In what ways? 

• One of them is usual video conferencing which is mostly done to contact for meetings due to urgent or distant or other reasons. 
• Emailing is also compulsory nowadays to send written documents or other important file to the staff or employees of the company. 
• One the important form of communications Uber does with their customer is through the mobile application. People get easily contacted to the driver from the mobile app which also provides many other options for both the driver and customer.

EXAMPLES OF HOW THE INTERNET IS USED FOR JOLLIBEE & UBER?

Introduction

The best way to satisfy anyone is the way to their stomach first, which is food! Here is Jollibee which is a fast food restaurant originally coming from Philippines. This chain is specialized in mostly chicken and is continuing to add in more of new recipes time to time.

How Jollibee uses internet?

Compared to Uber, this business does not rely mostly on using internet but more towards to face-to-face techniques of providing customer service. But still, in some ways they do use the internet to keep contact of their customers. Below are some uses of it:

      1. Social Media

They use social media such as Twitter, Facebook and Instagram to not just advertise but to update their customers whatever they have at their branch. Even seasonal offers are advertised in the social media so that people sitting at home can also be knowing whats happening rather than seeing leaflets or postures around to know about the offers.

      2. Emails

Emails are used mostly for hiring staff or employees into the business. How they do it is... Most of the times they ask the people during a vacancy for sending their CV (curriculum vitae) and other personal information through emails. 

      3. Research about competitors

Internet today, provides information about almost everything that is in this world. In order to continue growing, Jollibee has to stay up to date in this trendy world. It is essential to keep knowledge and try getting more ideas so that they can apply onto their business. Sometimes, a new product can be formed with knowing what the customers are mostly demanding in the food industry.

On the other hand, Jollibee also do research and keep information about their competitors, for example, KFC. All businesses want to run ahead of the other, especially when they are in the same industry. 

Here, I had explained about two contrasting companies UBER  and JOLLIBEE. Not all uses of internet are used and applied by these two companies and also not the same kind. Thank you for visiting my blog once again!😇

We all have heard about Uber, haven’t we? News, channels, newspapers and mostly the internet is where we have heard about it. So what is Uber all about?  It is normally called UberCab and has been operating since 2009. Uber is a service providing business of transportation that acquires ridesharing, taxi, cab, food delivery and transportation network company. Uber is actually a very convenient, cheaper than taxi and trusted transport for all countries. Interesting fact that the word Uber refers to a German word called topmost or super 😊

How Uber uses internet?

This company relies mostly on the internet. Why? Simply because it has a mobile app so that they can reach their customers. The mobile app benefits in many ways to the people because Uber only uses technology to give people what they want and when they want it. Some of their uses through internet are as shown below:

      1. Communication

The mobile app is the main way the Uber communicates with their customers. The customers get to contact the driver from the app itself. Without Uber's use of internet, there is no income coming in to the company as their main idea is to use technology for completing the customer service.

      2. Advertisement

It is through internet as well that Uber uses to advertise to people. The aim of advertising is always to attract attention of people around or even be reminded of what is new and updated. Therefore, they do have accounts on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter with different address since different countries have made different Uber accounts to keep people updated which is sometimes regarding the price changes or changes in people working at Uber and so on.

     3. Excellent public relations

The relations with the public are appreciated by the customers as the service they provide is as they say such as sends customers on time and safely at their destination. Uber is cheaper than the taxi's which makes people go for it even more.

HOW DOES THE INTERNET OPERATE? [P1]

What is the internet & world wide web?🌏

Internet?

• In today's world, internet is getting essential to use in everyone's lives and also in the business world.
• It simply means the network connecting a computer to another in anywhere of the world where we can send and receive all types of information such as videos, images, texts, graphics, voice and other computer programs.

World Wide Web?

• World wide web is a part of the internet which contains websites and webpages.
• It is known to be a HTML (hyper-text markup language).
• The business world normally use this "www" in order to make websites and make money from advertisements rather than from fees.

How does it work?

So, how does the internet work? Most of us know how to use the internet without actually understanding how it works. Sort of like electricity at your home, you use it everyday but may not understand the mechanics behind it.

In order to make the internet work, there are some steps or procedures to be followed.

Step 1:

As explained previously that internet is a global network of computers, every single computer connected to the internet has a number.

Now, the X's here that you see actually would be replaced with a number of some kind in which the xxx must be numbers from 0-255. This is known to be an address which is called the IP (Internet Protocol) address. 

Step 2:

Secondly, computers connected to the internet through their Internet Service Provider (ISP). ISP has a set of addresses to give out. A simple definition of the ISP is that it provides internet services in order to let people access, use or participate in the internet, even if people are trying to access sitting at home, work or anywhere else.

There are different types of internet connections as there are many ways our gadgets can connect to the internet. Different hardware have different range of connection speeds. Some examples of the types of internet connections are:

• Dial-Up- connects to the internet after the computer dials a phone number.
• Cable- provides an internet connection through a cable and operates over cable TV lines.
• Wireless- also known as Wi-Fi which does not need cables or telephone lines.

Step 3:

When your computer is connected to the internet, we are normally searching for different addresses which is known as the website. In order to remember easily the internet addresses, Domain Names are used. The examples of domain names are such as the edu, gov, org, com and many more. These domain names are formed by rules and procedures of the Domain Name System (DNS). The domain names also represents the Internet Protocol (rules protecting the internet network). 

To conclude, the internet as we may or may not know, has many techniques of setting up. So far in this P1 I have explained the definition of internet, world wide web, IP address, ISP, types of internet connections, domain names, DNS and Internet Protocol.
